Applies to the TMP102 (PC828) Infrared Thermometer.
Please note that the “Lo” indicator on the infrared thermometer does not indicate a low battery warning. It indicates a low temperature reading.
If you refer to the Troubleshooting section of the User Instructions, in Body Mode, the LCD shows “Lo” when the measuring distance from the forehead is greater than 2 inches. The unit is actually measuring the ambient temperature of the room which is lower than the threshold for the body measurements. Once you click the measurement trigger when measuring someone’s forehead temperature, the “Lo” warning will disappear. Please note that we understand that this issue is confusing to the user and we are updating our User Instructions and websites to better clarify what happens when the thermometer is turned on in Body Mode, as the “Lo” indicator will always appear.
In “BODY” mode, the thermometer is set up to measure temperatures between 89.6° – 109.4°F, so if you try to measure the temperature of something lower than that (such as the room or surface temperature) you will get the “Lo” warning. Try measuring the temperature of someone’s body from less than 2 inches away, or switch to “SURFACE” mode.
NOTE: “Lo” does not mean low battery. If the battery is low, the low battery icon will blink.
